Step 2: Indoor or Outdoor?
Electric forklifts are ideal for indoor use — zero emissions, low noise, and safe for enclosed spaces like food-grade warehouses and retail distribution centers. They require flat, hard floor surfaces.
Propane and diesel forklifts work indoors and outdoors. Propane is the most common rental choice for mixed-use environments — warehouses with loading docks, construction sites, and lumber yards.
Step 3: Lift Height
Standard forklift mast heights range from about 130 inches to over 240 inches of maximum lift height. If you're loading or unloading racking systems, confirm the stacking height before booking.
Step 4: Attachments
Standard forklifts come with forks. If you need to move cylindrical loads, you'll want a carpet pole. For elevated work, a man basket attaches to the forks. Fork extensions add reach for longer loads like lumber and pipe.
